The Real 12-Month Wedding Planning Checklist (No Fluff)

If there’s one piece of advice we’d offer every newly engaged couple, it’s this: the secret to a calm wedding isn’t doing more — it’s doing things in the right order.

Below is the same month-by-month framework we use with our Signature clients, distilled into a guide you can use whether you’re working with a planner or going it alone.

Month 12 → 10: The Foundations

Lock the three things that anchor everything else: your guest count, your budget, and your wedding date. Without these, every subsequent decision is built on sand.

Once those are set, book your venue and your photographer. These two vendors are the most likely to be unavailable at short notice and they each have a multiplier effect on every other decision.

Month 9 → 6: The Big Vendors

Caterer, decor, attire, music. Tasting menus, fittings, and at least two vendor meetings per week. This is the heaviest lifting period — front-load it and you’ll thank yourself later.

Month 5 → 3: The Refinement

Stationery, hair & makeup trials, registry, accommodations for guests. The pace eases; the precision tightens.

Month 2 → 0: The Calm

If the previous months were done well, this should feel almost serene. Final headcount, seating chart, run-of-show, vendor confirmations.

And then — you breathe.
